Cardiovascular Risk Calculator

A web application for assessing the psycho-cardiological risk of patients with serious mental disorders.

The beginning of the story

In collaboration with the University Hospital Hradec Králové and the Psychiatric Society of the Czech Medical Association J. E. Purkyňě, a tool was created for doctors to help them estimate cardiovascular risk in patients with serious mental disorders. This group of patients has an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease, and doctors needed a quick way to assess the risk according to the SCORE2 and SCORE2-OP model and at the same time have recommended procedures for patient monitoring and care close to hand.

What we worked on

Implementation of the SCORE2 and SCORE2-OP calculation model, the calculator works with sex, age category, smoking status, non-HDL cholesterol value...
Transcription of recommended procedures into interactive tables, monitoring of physical parameters and laboratory values, managing weight gain by BMI and more.
Design of the application logic based on the SCORE risk factor methodology and in collaboration with experts from the University Hospital Hradec Králové and the Psychiatric Society.
Responsive application design functional across PC, laptop, tablet and mobile, so the doctor can use it directly with the patient.
Abbreviation glossary directly in the application, allowing the doctor to quickly navigate even technical terms without having to leave the calculator.

Result

A cardiovascular risk calculator was created for doctors caring for patients with serious mental disorders. The application combines the SCORE2/SCORE2-OP scientific model with practical clinical recommendations in one place, so the doctor quickly obtains both the risk calculation and guidance on next steps. The combination of white and carbon blue and the Public Sans font creates a calm and clear clinical environment in which doctors can focus on the data and results.
